“….technical feats like this collection’s short fitted jackets, as well as evening dresses that limned the body to the hips, dipped to cup the bum, then erupted into flamencolike tiers of ruffles. All in knit! Sober yet erotically charged, they were looks for proper grown-ups—of any age. “You just don’t see clothes like that,” one loyal customer rhapsodized at show’s end. “There’s everyone else. Then there’s Alaïa.” – Style.com
Azzedine Alaïa is undoubtedly a master at his craft. His Autumn/Winter 2011 collection will leave you breathless.. I’m drooling over the above knit dress, oh Alaia!! View more of my faves below.

This year’s Costume Institute exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty,” paying homage to the ”British fashion designer and couturier best known for his in-depth knowledge of bespoke British tailoring, his tendency to juxtapose female strength and sensuality with fragility in his collections, as well as the emotional power and raw energy of his provocative fashion shows. ” The pieces on display, (all of which were handmade) reminded everyone why McQueen was such an international treasure. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City is the site of McQueen’s first post-graduate show, making the venue so apropos. View photos of the exhibit below as well as some of the celebutantes who attended the Met gala yestarday evening.

Clive Rundle’s Braille inspired Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection couples bold, strong construction with the soft gentle fabrics of cotton and silk. The bold yet beautiful contrast that he creates in this collection remains true to the labels uncanny design aesthetic. The most interesting aspect of the runway show were the beads of white blinders he used to accessorize each outfit. What is so original about these beads is that they are known as something a sangoma or traditional medicine man would wear. What a surprise to find them on the runway.

J’ai Deux Amours is how Eric Raisina describes the inspiration behind his latest collection. His two loves? Paris and Madagascar. ”Eric Raisina is essentially a designer of three continents: Asia, Europe and Africa. This combination makes his fashion unique and universal. Always interested in experimenting with designs, it was chance that took him from his hometown in Madagascar to Paris to study design at the Ecole Duperré.” As a designer he has devoted himself to developing new colors, textures and silk weaving patterns, the raffia from Madagascar, one of Eric’s signature products, is regarded as the “African Lace” and his famous “silk fur” has become a much sought after fabric. Haute Textures are what Eric Raisina is all about it is no wonder that he has been called upon to create unique textures for Parisian fashion houses including Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior and Christian Lacroix.
