Throughout his career Edward Enninful has been known for making statements with his work, (as you may recall the lead photo of this article was one of the photo covers for the iconic Vogue Italia All Black Issue July 2008). His career began at the age of 17 as the fashion editor of I-D magazine! By the age of 30 Enninful was already working alongside world renown photographer Steven Meisel to create beautiful art for Vogue Italia as their Fashion Editor and Stylist. The June 2011 cover will be his last for Vogue, as he has recently been appointed Director of Fashion and Style at W Magazine.
“Fashion editors work in tight collaboration with the best photographers and have the ability to influence the pathway of fashion, create trends and change the general idea of what is beautiful, sexy or elegant.” -Vogue It. What a statement the June 2011 cover of Vogue Italia makes!
What can we Expect to see from Enninful at W Mag? ”I want editorial to be filled with ideas. It’s very important to capture the mood of the collections and bring narrative onto the pages. It’s also very important to be forward-thinking but remain wearable. We should project what’s going to come, take from the past and bring something new, and document what’s around now.” – Edward Enninful Read more of this interview at Style.com
Below I have included more photos of Enninful’s artwork during his 15 years working with Vogue. Enjoy!
