Katie Eary’s take on the California life led her to create bold streetwear inspired fashions with a splash of glamour. Katie Eary’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection involved an audacious Versace-esque fishy print on silk basketball cut shorts, long sleeve shirts and fitted pants. The obvious rock star appeal of this collection speaks to her celebrity clientele.

Metallics in the summer looks pretty hot (pun intended). I love to see designers think outside the box and take risks but I’m not feeling this Miami Vice thing Christopher Bailey has going on. When it comes to suits keep it traditional and classy.. There were more acceptable looks starting at the 2:51 mark and of course lots of gorgeous coats and bags. Enjoy the show..

On Monday our friends at H&M shared their Menswear Spring/Summer2012 lookbook with us. I just had a chance to take a look and here it is..
H&M’s runway inspired looks focused on all the latest trends we’ve seen from our favorite menswear designers. The colored suits as seen on the runway at Gucci, double breasted suits as seen at Zegna, the Marc Jacobs color blocking and Hermès neons all appear in this collection. The fun thing about these looks is that they can be worn many different ways. A few items from this collection, paired with great style sense can totally update your existing wardrobe and have you looking like a million bucks for a fraction of the cost.

“Sa mode est extrêmement technique, réfléchie et mise énormément sur l’efficacité des détails… ces vêtements combinant élégance, audace et sensualité.” P. Zolanski
Bridget Awosika is no longer the fashion industry’s best kept secret. Above is a quote from one of my favorite fashion bloggers from TheZolanskisreview descibing Awosika’s Spring Summer 2012 collection. This collection also caught the attention of Vogue Italia editor Robb Young who likened it to “the very cool arrival of a serene but invigorating glacial breeze.” How delightful!! He goes on to compliment the “fluid asymetric lines” and their international appeal. No doubt Awosika is a rising star.
In Vogue Italia Awosika shares her inspirations and addresses the frustrations (or lack thereof) that come with being labeled an”African designer”. Read more HERE

Loza Maléombho Spring Summer 2012 stays true to the label’s aesthetic mixture of modern and trendy silhouettes with an ethnic and tribal edge in textile. I would wear every piece in this collection. BCBG Max Azria kept things sheer, colorful, and cool for his Spring Summer 2012 collection. The color blocking technique, which was reminiscent of last season’s collection, was utilized throughout as were cutouts, and accordion pleats. This presentation did not thrill me but overall the collection was easy breezy perfect for the spring.

Arise Magazine is known for bringing the best in African fashion to cities across the globe and in September they return to New York with their highly anticipated “Made in Africa” collective September 15th, 5pm at Avery Fisher Hall.
Here’s what Mercedes Benz Fashion Week reps had to say:
“Since the launch of ARISE magazine and our inaugural ARISE show three seasons ago, it has been our mission to bring African culture to a wider global audience. We are proud to be able to give some incredibly talented designers the opportunity to showcase their creations on a global platform, an opportunity they would not hitherto have been afforded.”
Uhmmm, ok… Below is a list of some of the featured designers that will be showing their S/S 2012 collections. Happy showing! May the seats be filled with stockist/buyers, Edward Enninfuls and Anna Wintours.
